Location of Budva

The coastal area called Budva Riviera near the town itself is the centre of tourism in Montenegro. The largest island of the southern part of the Adriatic Sea, called St Nicholas Island or “Hawaii of Budva” is also located in this area.

Can you rent a yacht in Budva – do I need a license?

Small boats (under a certain horsepower or length), electric boats, crewed yacht charters and gulet charters may not require a license. Larger boats or those with more powerful engines need a skipper’s license. Before you confirm your sailing trip to Budva, please send us a copy and we will check it for you. You need to have the original copies with you on-board, so don’t forget to take them.
To sail in Montenegro, one of the following qualifications is necessary: • ICC (International Certificate of Competence), International, with valid Navigational and VHF licenses Prerequisites: RYA “Day Skipper Course” or complete the ICC Assessment form to prove competence from previous experience.

This protected port is also known as Dukley Marina Budva. It has 300 berths and can accommodate boats up to 40 metres in length. Port of Bar

It is the largest and most important port in Montenegro, in the southern part of the country. The place is also known as Luka Bar. The port consists of several sections: the port for scheduled vessels, the port for private vessels, commercial vessels and a military port. There are more than 600 berths for vessels up to 35 metres. The depth of the seabed is 8 metres. There is a restaurant on-site, WiFi and maintenance are available. The port of Herceg Novi

Port of Kotor

The port of Kotor is also known as Luka Kotor or Cattaro. It can accommodate a maximum of 30 boats, up to 30 metres in length. The maximum depth of the seabed is 8.5 metres. Main sights Budva

The coastal town offers several sights to visit. The most important ones include the Fortress of Saint Mary or the Citadel, the Church of the Holy Trinity and the Church of Santa Maria in Punta. The town is a great starting point when exploring Saint Nicholas Island, the island of Sveti Stefan or Lake Skadar nearby. Slovenska Plaža

Slovenska Plaža is the largest beach in Budva with a length of 1, 600 metres. It is a pebbly beach with some sandy parts as well. They have lounges, changing rooms and showers, too. If you like doing sports, you can find basketball and volleyball courts on this shore segment, divided into several parts. You can even play bowling.

Mogren Beach

Mogren Beach, which is located app. 200 metres from the old city, consists of two pebbly parts that are connected by a tunnel. They offer lounges, and you can rent a paddleboat or a kayak on the 350-metre-long beach. The crystal clear water is perfect for scuba-diving. The remains of the Church of Saint Anthony of Padua can be found on the beach called Mogren II.

Which period is best to sail in Budva?

The resort in Montenegro is characterised by a typical Mediterranean climate. Summers are hot and dry, while winters are mild but wet. In July, the temperature might get as high as 27 °C. We can expect most of the precipitation to fall in November and December. Due to the pleasant weather, we recommend that you visit the town between May and October.
