Sukosan, a pearl of North Dalmatia

Sukosan lies on a peninsula 5 km from Zadar. Originally it was meant to be a calm tourist resort, though; the huge Marina Dalmacija in the bay of Zlatna Luke (The Golden Harbor) has made it busier. With its 1200 berths, it is regarded to be Croatia’s biggest marina. Not to mention the 48 piers forming a semi-circle man-made island in the middle. Basically, all facilities are at your disposal behind the fence – restaurants, coffee bars, shops etc., you do not need to step outside. Sukosan

The old traditions are preserved by the inhabitants of Sukosan. Two main festivals take place a year. The first is in winter, the “Nights of Sukosan”. The other is the Day of St. Kasijan, the town’s patron saint, who is celebrated with many street festivals, processions on 13th August. If you want to consume mouth-watering dishes, then definitely try out the Dalmatian cuisine. The best restaurants in the town are Porat, Griblja and Kod Guste. Bibinje

A folklore festival is organized in Bibinje at the end of July / at the beginning of August where local folklore groups make spectacular performances. Furthermore, fishing and drama festivals, at the beginning and end of the season the Bibinje Summer Run festival are held. Raspivano Bibinje, the meeting of Capella singers, is one of the village’s most important events. Another event from the endless list is the feast of Saint Roch on 15th August. Vodice

Biograd na Moru

The summer sports competitions and events of Biograd na Moru take place either in the open air or in the swimming pool and cinema of the Ilirija Hotel. Besides, the famous Biograd Boat Show is held every October in the harbour. The city is proud of the first Croatian theme park opened here in 2017. The 4.5 hectare Fun Park of Mirnovec receives many visitors who can try out 25 different attractions. The coast offers numerous leisure programmes, such as water skiing and surfing. Sveti Filip, Sibenik , Zadar

Sveti Filip i Jakov offers several cultural events and festivals in the first half of August, the feasts of Saint Roch are held on 16th August.

Pirovac, Tisno, Tribunj

While the outskirts of Pirovac is famous for the 16-century ruins of its town wall and gate, the Mediterranean atmosphere of stone-built houses fills the whole vicinity of the old town.

Tisno hugs both shores of the narrow strait in the direction of Murter. A 37-metre long narrow sea canal separates the mainland from the island of Murter. At the centre of the village, there is a draw-bridge. The marina of Murter can be found by Betina; although there are many other bays around the island appropriate for docking.

What to do in Sukosan: the unspoilt nature

Owing to Sukosan’s ideal location several marvellous and interesting places, Telašćica, Paklenica, the Kornati National Park, and the Pasman islands opposite the town, are within an easy reach. You wouldn’t believe it, but there are even canoe safaris organised on the Zrmanja River.

Lake Vrana

Lake Vrana, Dalmatia’s biggest freshwater lake lying next to Pakostane is 13 km long, 3 km wide and 4 m deep. Its vicinity is a paradise for fishermen and hunters; besides, a pass takes us to a unique Ornithological Reserve.

Islands of Ugljan and Pasman

By boat, the islands of Ugljan and Pasman must be on our to-see list. For a few hours, you can take part in a vast of sightseeing tours in these villages. The territory is rich in natural resources.
