Location of Navene di Malcesine
Malcesine lies on the eastern shore of Lake Garda, in the Province of Verona in the Veneto region. It’s 120 km away from Venice and 40 km from Verona and encircles the following settlements: Navene, Campagnola, Malcesine itself, Val di Sogno and Cassone. You can find the Monte Baldo range and the two largest islands of Lake Garda: Isola di Sogno and Isola dell’Olivo here as well.
The history of Navene di Malcesine
The first known settlers of Malcesine were the Etruscan around 500 B.C. Through the conquests of Tiberius, however, Malcesine has been taken under the control of the Roman Empire. Malcesine has also been invaded by the Ostrogoths, the Alemanni and the Lombards. In the late middle ages, it was under Verona’s, then Venice’s control. The rule of the latter was terminated by Napoleon’s invasions and after the fall of Venice, Malcesine has been taken under the control of the Habsburg Empire. It became part of the Kingdom of Italy in 1866 through the Risorgimento (the Resurgence).

There’re two climates mixing in the Lake Garda area: the Mediterranean and mountain climates. Although summers are hot and sunny, showers occur frequently, whereas winters are relatively dry. The lake’s water temperature is approximately 20-23 °C in the summer, however, temperatures in the northern part are always 2-3 degrees lower than the southern. Due to the precipitation arriving from the surrounding mountains and the natural hot springs, the lake boasts remarkably clean waters of excellent quality.
The two min winds of Malcesine the Ora and the Pelèr provide excellent conditions for sailing. The best time to visit is spring to the beginning of summer, especially between April and mid-June.

You have to climb 115 steps to reach the Upper Cave. The awe-inspiring waterfall is fed by Magnone river that stems from Lake Tenno and its total height is 98 m. It’s a must-see sight for both adults and children.

Val di Sogno Beach
The public Val di Songo Beach stretches south of Malcesine. It’s a pebble beach with parasols and sun lounges available for hire and it’s also very popular amongst surfers and sailors. Only 20 m away from the beach, you can find Isola del Songo, where you’re ought to try diving.
