Location of Navene di Malcesine
Malcesine lies on the eastern shore of Lake Garda, in the Province of Verona in the Veneto region. It’s 120 km away from Venice and 40 km from Verona and encircles the following settlements: Navene, Campagnola, Malcesine itself, Val di Sogno and Cassone. The history of Navene di Malcesine
The first known settlers of Malcesine were the Etruscan around 500 B.C. Through the conquests of Tiberius, however, Malcesine has been taken under the control of the Roman Empire. Malcesine has also been invaded by the Ostrogoths, the Alemanni and the Lombards. In the late middle ages, it was under Verona’s, then Venice’s control. The rule of the latter was terminated by Napoleon’s invasions and after the fall of Venice, Malcesine has been taken under the control of the Habsburg Empire. It became part of the Kingdom of Italy in 1866 through the Risorgimento (the Resurgence).
