The Island of St. Martin is on the Caribbean Sea. It can be divided into two. Sint Maarten is in the southern part, which constitutionally belongs to the Dutch Kingdom as an associated autonomous state. This area makes up 40% of the island. Its capital is Philipsburg and has a size of 47.0 nm2. The other 60% of the island is Saint Martin, which belongs to France. The total population of the island is 77 741. It shares borders with the island called Anguilla from the north, and the British Virgin Islands from the northwest. The Princess Juliana International Airport of St. Martin’s Dutch area. It has a very short runway and the planes fly only 10 to 20 m above our heads.

The magical island of St. Martin has more than 37.8 nm long seashore. It lies between the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. St. Martin is one of the most beautiful sea paradises in the world. From untouched, quiet shores to lively centers, every beach is fantastically unique and reflects the island’s rich variegation. Nowadays, more and more people opt for boat rental, which lets them discover nearby islands and towns.
Long Bay Beach is in the heart of Low Lands which lies on the western shore of the island. This was the first beach of French Saint Martin at the same time one of the quietest beaches here. The bars and the terraces of the La Samanna restaurant are perfect sites for admiring the sunset.
Plum Bay is one of the less-visited beaches on the island. The sunshine, the golden sand, and the crystal clear water provide perfect peace and harmony for visitors. The water is rather wild in this section of the shore. Thus, it makes an adventure playground for practiced surfers.
It got its name after its coloured sand. Therefore, it’s not a coincidence that this is one of the most popular beaches in St. Martin. Small restaurants by the sea meet all expectations in terms of dining. The beach is lively and has a pleasant atmosphere.
The half-Dutch half-French island has an entertaining program that engages visitors all day and even throughout the night. The island is unique and diverse in many ways. In 1763 they established the Dutch capital, Philipsburg. The city has a rich history, big shopping centers, and many lively clubs. It contains Front Street (Voorstraat), the main shopping quarter, that’s parallel to the seaside promenade. Boat trippers can easily get from the Philipsburg cruise yacht mole to the city center. They’re the most important sights are waiting for them such as the Guavaberry Emporium, the Sint Maarten Museum, the historical court, and a casino. St. Martin has a tropical climate. The average monthly temperatures vary by only about 3º C year-round. Average air temperatures in coastal areas range from 22º to 30º C. On the coast, the climate is generally balmy year-round influenced by the trade winds, but some months are rainy and others dry. In inland areas, from 19º to 27º C. Water temperatures stay between 20º and 23º C. The dry season lasts from December to April. At this time of year, mornings and nights are cooler but never dip below an average of 8°C. The rainy season is from May to November. Short rain showers or clear skies can occur at any time during the year. Hurricanes may occur in St. Martin from June through November, most likely during September.
