The climate is mostly temperate throughout Poland. The climate is milder along the northern coast, overlooking the Baltic Sea and becomes gradually warmer and continental towards the south and east. In spring cold days alternate with the first warm days, while from mid-May the temperature becomes steadily pleasant. The summer and autumn the country is often influenced by continental air mass that brings plenty of warm days. Summer is pleasantly warm, the average daily temperatures are around 18 °C. The temperatures decrease rapidly in Autumn however, there is a moderate amount of sunny days. In winter, polar-continental fronts often dominate with temperatures ranging from an average of about -1 °C. They bringing cold, frosty weather with temperatures far below zero an sometimes heavy snowfall. Precipitation falls throughout the year, although winter is usually drier than summer.
