In Lithuania temperatures range between maritime and continental. Winters are freezy, and the summers are mild and moderately rainy. The weather is often breezy and humid due to the proximity of the Baltic Sea. In inland areas, the temperatures are a bit lower in winter and a bit higher in summer than on the coastal areas. In spring, the temperature gradually increases, the temperatures become pleasant in May. Average temperatures on the coast are around 3 °C in winter and 16 °C in summer.
