Spring (March – May): Spring is a wonderful time to sail around Kefalonia. The weather is pleasant, usually between 17°C and 24°C, the sea is calm, and the island is green and full of wildflowers. There are not many tourists yet, so the bays and harbours are quieter.
Summer (June – August): This is the peak season for sailing. The weather is hot and sunny, often between 28°C and 35°C. Winds are usually light to moderate (especially the afternoon, northwesterly winds), and the sea is mostly calm. Ports and popular spots can be crowded, so it is worth arriving early. Perfect for beach-goers and socialites.
Autumn (September – November): Early autumn is considered by many to be the best time to sail in Kefalonia. The sea is still warm after the summer, the temperature is pleasant (22°C – 30°C), and the winds are steady but not too strong. The number of tourists also decreases, making for a more peaceful and relaxing experience.
Winter (December – February): Sailing is less common in winter. Temperatures are around 10°C – 17°C, the weather is more changeable, rain is more frequent and stronger winds can occur. It is not ideal for casual sailors, but it can provide a special, quiet adventure for the more experienced.
