St.Lucia is an island with volcanic origin in the central line of Windward islands in the Lesser Antilles. It’s surrounded by Saint Vincent and the Grenadine islands from the northeast, Barbados from the northwest, and Martinique from the south. The island has an area of 60 km2 and 160 000 residents.
In St.Lucia, a license is not specifically required. You simply need to fill out a sailing resume and only charter a yacht that your experience permits. The port of the island lies on the northern side of the capital, Castries. It’s easily accessible from the city centre even by a 15-minute walk. Sugar Beach lies between the mountains of the Pitons. With its beautiful sand, it’s one of the nicest beaches in St.Lucia. Here you can relax and view the astonishing sight of how the Caribbean Sea meets the mountain. The beach is a few kilometres south from Soufrière on the western side of the island. Some of the shore is part of the Sugar Beach Resort, but the northern section is waiting for vacationers all year.
There are numerous smaller beaches in this gulf on the western side of the island. It’s one of the most popular sections of shore in St.Lucia since it often appears in some scenes of Hollywood movies. The palm trees, anchoring boats, and white sand create a romantic atmosphere. From time to time the beach gets overcrowded, but you’ll always find hidden spots where you can calm down and enjoy the wonderful landscape.
The Grande Anse lies next to mountains on the eastern side of St.Lucia far from the tourist sites of the island. The Grande Anse provides a quiet and calming environment perfect for romantic walks. Many people come here to view sea turtles lay their eggs or little turtles hatch.
The most suitable place if you crave a long walk by the sea or a refreshing swim in the calm water. The bars, hotels, and cafés on the beach are very popular among tourists coming by cruise yachts as well. The shore is well-equipped with deck chairs and watersport equipment available for rent.
St.Lucia is proud to have as many sights as most Caribbean islands. Along with seaside programs, it’s worth visiting other attractions on its magical island. Gorgeous botanical gardens, volcanos and several sights are waiting for you. Pigeon Island was a crossing point built-in the ’70s. Nowadays, it functions as a beautiful national park. These charming houses have decorative grids and galleries. Don’t forget to visit the cathedral from the 20th century on the eastern side of the square.
The Caribbean region has the traits of all year hot and humid tropical climate. The weather is somewhat cool and dry from the middle of January to the middle of April. From the middle of June to the middle of November it’s usually hot, wet, and rainy. Subtropical monsoon climate dominates in the country. The average yearly temperature is 28 °C.

St.Lucia has a tropical climate, hot and humid all year round. On the coast, the climate is generally sunny and pleasant. Average temperatures on the island vary usually from 20º to 30º C. The dry season lasts from Januar to April, the daily average temperature is around 25 º C. From June to November the daily averages are around 29 °C. The humid and rainy season starts in May till November. The rains occur throughout the year especially in the form of downpours or thunderstorms. September is considered to be the rainiest month. Hurricanes may occur from June through November, most likely during September.
