The weather in New Zealad is often variable. In general the climate is oceanic, windy and rainy, but mild in the north and rather cool in the south. There can be sunshine and rain alternating in a few hours. In New Zealand the seasons are reversed as compared with Europe or North America. Summer starts in December and winter in June. In summer it rarely gets hot, and in winter it rarely gets very cold. Average temperatures range from 7°C in winter to 16°C in summer, although in some places, summer temperatures can even reach the 30°C . The rains are quite frequent throughout the year. They are usually more frequent in winter than in summer.
