Do you need a license to sail a catamaran in Lefkas?
Small boats (under a certain horsepower or length), electric boats, crewed yacht charters, gulet charters may not require a license. Larger boats or those with more powerful engines need a skipper’s license. Before you confirm your sailing trip to Lefkas, please send us a copy and we will check it for you. You need to have the original copies on board, so don’t forget to take them. To sail from Lefkas, one of the following qualifications is necessary:
• ICC (International Certificate of Competence), with valid Navigational and VHF licenses, Prerequisites: RYA “Day Skipper Course” or complete the ICC Assessment form to prove competence from previous experience.• IPC (International Proficiency Certificate), America, Prerequisites: ASA 104 or US Sailing “Bareboat Cruising Course” OR:

The best time to sail in Lefkada is from late May to early October. For those who prefer milder weather and fewer crowds, May, June, September and early October are ideal. If you are an experienced sailor looking for stronger winds, July and August are the best choices. Spring (March- May)
The temperature is 15-25°C, with mild and pleasant weather. The wind is light, northwesterly, typically 10-15 knots, making it excellent for calm sailing. The water is still warming up (16-20°C), but in late spring it becomes comfortable for swimming. Summer (June-August)
Warm and sunny, with temperatures ranging from 25-35°C. The Maestro (northwesterly) wind picks up in the afternoon, reaching 15-25 knots, creating ideal conditions for experienced sailors. The water is warm (24-27°C) and mostly calm in the mornings, with stronger winds expected in the afternoons. Autumn (September-November)
The temperature gradually drops from 30°C in early September to 18°C in November. The Maestro wind weakens but still offers a steady breeze of 10-20 knots. The water remains warm (22-25°C) until the end of October, making it ideal for late-season sailing. Winter (December-February)
Cooler temperatures, 10-18°C, with occasional rain. The wind is stronger and more unpredictable, with occasional storms from the west and south. The sea is rougher and the water is colder (14-17°C).
