Kaštel Gomilica is a quiet base in Kaštela Bay, its tiny fortified islet village a few miles from Split’s airport but clear of the city’s charter bustle. An early handover leaves time to cross to Šolta or the near shore of Brač; a later one is better spent at the berth, slipping out next morning. Split Airport (SPU) is a short drive, with Zadar (ZAD) an option when its flights fit better. A week of Brač, Šolta, Hvar and the Pakleni Islands stays almost entirely in the lee of the islands, the channels short and no long open passage forced. The exposure only starts south of Hvar, so Hvar makes the natural turn and the run home stays inside the sheltered channels.
