Slano is a quiet, deeply sheltered bay north of Dubrovnik, a calmer base than the city and the gateway to the Pelješac side: the medieval salt town of Ston with its long walls and the oyster beds of Mali Ston lie just up the coast. Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) is a 60–90-minute road transfer, with Tivat (TIV) in Montenegro much further. After handover, a cove in Slano bay itself or the near Elafiti makes a first night, sheltered unless the sirocco gets up. You work the Elafiti and the Pelješac channel, with Ston’s oysters and the Mljet park the two set-pieces, most of it in protected water where the choice is which island to linger on. The Mljet salt lakes are the one longer day, best judged on the forecast and worth an early return.
