Ugljan and its neighbour Pašman form a long green breakwater between Zadar and the open sea, and that inside channel is the heart of a week here: flat, protected water the length of both islands, olive villages and little ferry harbours along the way. Preko, minutes from the base, or another of Ugljan’s own coves makes the first night if the handover leaves the afternoon; otherwise the morning does. Zadar Airport (ZAD) is a short drive plus the island ferry, with Split (SPU) far to the south. Most of the week can stay in that sheltered strip, dropping through the Ždrelac bridge onto the Pašman side and back, so the only real open leg is the hop west to the Kornati when you choose to take it. Telašćica’s cliffs and the outer Kornati are the bigger, more committing run, one better folded into a two-week cruise.
