Small boats (under a certain horsepower or length), electric boats, crewed yacht charters and gulet charter may not require a license. Larger boats or those with more powerful engines need a skipper’s license. Before you confirm your sailing trip to Positano, please send us a copy and we will check it for you. You need to have the original copies on board, so don’t forget to take them.
To sail in Italy, one of the following qualifications is necessary: • ICC (International Certificate of Competence), International, with valid Navigational and VHF licenses, Prerequisites: RYA “Day Skipper Course” or complete the ICC Assessment form to prove competence from previous experience.• IPC (International Proficiency Certificate), America, Prerequisites: ASA 104 or US Sailing “Bareboat Cruising Course” OR: • NauticEd SLC (International Sailing License and Credentials), International, • UK – RYA Day Skipper practical, • USA – US Sailing “Bareboat Cruising Course”, ASA “104 Bareboat Cruising Course” or above, • Germany – “Sportbootführerschein See“ or above, • Belgium – Algemeen Stuurbrevet/ Brevet de conduite général, • France – LE PERMIS PLAISANCE

There is one bigger port in Positano, below, you can read about the most important marinas in the region.
The port has a perfect traffic network. You can find great restaurants, bars and hotels in the neighbourhood. Along the docks near the port, there is a large parking space easily accessible for boats.
One of the busiest ports of the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is a large port with a territory of 10.4 squaremiles. The entrance is 280 metres wide, and the depth of the water may reach up to 13 metres.
The port is well-protected, and the staff is very helpful. The pool is 340 thousand squaremiles, and the depth of water here is 8 metres. There are moorings for 1000 boats and yachts; the size of the latter can even reach 123 metres.
Marina Coppola is located in a protected bay, therefore this port can be the perfect choice for beginners also. The port can accommodate up to 50 boats. The maximum allowed size is 35 m, and the depth of the water ranges from 8 to 11 meters. It is open to sailors in 24 hours a day and provides plenty of services, like water- and electricity supply, shopping possibility and wifi.
Marina Piccola is located in a small bay of the Sorrento Peninsula, just a few steps away from the city center. It has great access to the main tourist attractions of the Amalfi Coast and the Capri Islands. It can accommodate boats with a maximum draft of 6 meters. Refueling, water- and electricity supply, laundry service and shopping possibilities are also provided.
The port has 150 berths and can accommodate ships up to 60 m with 4 meters draft. The port of Ischia offers countless services in a beautiful environment. Water- and electricity supplies are provided, and there is a fuel station as well. You can find in the port also some extra services, like childcare and laundry.
The port is located in the center of Naples, just 35 km away from the airport. Due to its excellent strategic location, you can easily access Pompeii, Herculaneum, and the area of the Vesuv. Marina Molo Luise has 110 berths, the maximum water depth is 11 m, and it can accommodate larger ships up to 100 meters.
