Malta has a sunny Mediterranean climate. It is strongly influenced by the sea.
The average yearly temperature is around 23 °C. Summers are hot, dry and mitigated by cooling sea breezes, temperature ranges from 28 to 34 °C. Spring and autumn are cooler with temperatures from 17–22 °C. It can occur that the Scirocco wind from Africa brings unseasonally high temperatures and humidity. Winters are mild and wet with temperatures ranging from 15-17 °C. There can be the occasional short cold spells brought about by the north and north-easterly winds from central Europe.
