That fork is the real planning choice. After handover a near cove or Rogoznica itself makes a first night while you settle on a direction. Split Airport (SPU) is a 35–60-minute road transfer, with Zadar (ZAD) the longer drive. A week either way keeps to short, sheltered legs; only the run out to Brač, Hvar or the outer Kornati turns long and open, so hold it for a calm spell and off the final leg home. Those outer islands, more committing miles offshore, are what a second week is for.
