Kavala Airport (KVA) is a 35–60-minute road transfer, with Alexandroupoli (AXD) the longer drive east. This is open coastal sailing rather than island-hopping, so the first night goes wherever the meltemi allows: Thasos or the Kavala shore to the west when it blows, closer in when it eases. In a week you follow the low shore toward the Porto Lagos lagoons and across to green, marble-veined Thasos, but with few natural harbours the exposed stretches want an early start and a turn for the low shore before the last day.
