Šibenik is a full Dalmatian city, not a marina town: stone lanes climbing to two hilltop Venetian forts, the UNESCO-listed Cathedral of St James at its heart, and the deep, fjord-like Šibenik channel running past it to the sea. Prvić, Zlarin and Kaprije, small and car-free, lie just off the city, so the opening days are easy: with an afternoon maestral, Zlarin is a short reach in the lee; with less daylight, little is lost by starting next morning. Split Airport (SPU) is a 50–70-minute drive, with Zadar (ZAD) about the same to the north. A week can stay among the city’s channel, the near islands and the Krka upriver without a long passage. The one commitment is the run out toward Murter and the Kornati, so time it for settled conditions and turn back inside the sheltered channels before the last day.
