Just south-east of Split and its Roman palace, Podstrana looks straight across the channel to Šolta and Brač, with Hvar a little beyond. If the handover leaves enough daylight, the first hop is an easy one over to Šolta or the near side of Brač; otherwise it is better to start in the morning. Split Airport (SPU) is a 30–55-minute road transfer, and Zadar (ZAD) is the longer drive to the north. Inside a week you can loop round Šolta, Brač and Hvar through sheltered channels, the islands close together and the harbours a short hop apart. Reaching Vis or Korčula further out means longer, more open passages, so plan an earlier turnaround to keep the last leg back short, or give them the room of a two-week itinerary.
