Location of Salerno
Salerno, a city and the capital of the province in the Campania region, lies on the gulf of the same name. On its borders there are Baronissi, Castiglione del Genovesi, Cava de’ Tirreni, Giffoni Valle Piana, Pellezzano, Pontecagnano Faiano, San Cipriano Picentino, San Mango Piemonte, and Vietri sul Mare. History of Salerno
Salerno was likely to be populated in the prehistoric times. The first human signs appeared between the 6th and 9th centuries. In 646 Salerno was the centre of a dukedom. Nowadays it is an important tourism and trade centre.

Main sights in Salerno
Lungomare Trieste, Salerno’s well-maintained promenade is about 1 km long. It commences at Piazza della Liberta toward the direction of Porto Turistico. Rare palm trees surround this wonderful promenade. The colourful flowers, trees with shade and nice benches can enhance your mood. Also, the statues and fountains make it more beautiful.
Villa Comunale di Salerno is located in the heart of the Old Town, next to the port. It is a tranquil place for a bit of relaxation with interesting statues and monuments. Its beauty may be enhanced by its exotic trees and its small lake with fish. It used to be the garden of the Town Hall, though; today it is the venue of several events.
Besides, Salerno is also famous for its film festival which is actually one of the oldest film festivals in Italy. It started in 1947. Its venue is the Augusto Film Theatre, the former Teatro Verdi.
Gastronomy of Salerno
Regarding cheese, the most well-known is mozzarella di bufala around Salerno. At the Tenuta Vannulo farm, you can get an insight into the cheese production process, and watch buffaloes. Try their dairy products ranging from yoghurt, chocolate to gelato.
The gastronomy of Salerno is also well-known. During your stay, reserve a table at one of the best restaurants in the city called Cicirinella. As you would expect, it is of premium quality and provides an excellent atmosphere. You can choose from a wide variety of Italian meals. Forte La Carnale, another great restaurant is also famous for its tasty meals.
Beaches of Salerno
Numerous cosy beaches lie along with Salerno. However, the towns of the Amalfi Coast also offer unique places to see.
La Baia Beach
It is one of the few sandy beaches of the Amalfi Coast which has enormous size. This nearly 400 m longshore awaits also families with small children. The beach is fairly well-equipped; in addition, due to its perfect location, there is lots of sunshine all day long.
La Crespella Beach
This gorgeous beach is 120 m long. Its shore has sandy and pebbly parts too. If you want to avoid the crowd, it is a great choice. Generally, it is calmer than other beaches in the vicinity; therefore, you can enjoy peaceful moments here. In the end, there is a 16th-century old tower which is responsible for the safety on the shore.

Salerno is listed as one of the busiest ports of the Tyrrhenian Sea. It has an enormous size, about 1.7 million square meters. The port’s entrance is 280 wide, and the water here is 13 m deep.

Marina Coppola (Amalfi)
Marina Coppola is located in a protected bay, therefore this port can be the perfect choice for beginners also. The port can accommodate up to 50 boats. The maximum allowed size is 35 m, and the depth of the water ranges from 8 to 11 meters. It is open to sailors in 24 hours a day and provides plenty of services, like water- and electricity supply, shopping possibility and wifi.
Marina Piccola is located in a small bay of the Sorrento Peninsula, just a few steps away from the city center. It has great access to the main tourist attractions of the Amalfi Coast and the Capri Islands. It can accommodate boats with a maximum draft of 6 meters. Refueling, water- and electricity supply, laundry service and shopping possibilities are also provided.
Port of Ischia
The port has 150 berths and can accommodate ships up to 60 m with 4 meters draft. The port of Ischia offers countless services in a beautiful environment. Marina Molo Luise(Naples)
The port is located in the center of Naples, just 35 km away from the airport. Due to its excellent strategic location, you can easily access Pompeii, Herculaneum, and the area of the Vesuv. Marina Molo Luise has 110 berths, the maximum water depth is 11 m, and it can accommodate larger ships up to 100 meters.
