The ideal time to sail in Porto Rotondo is typically from May to September, though each month offers unique advantages depending on the type of sailing experience you’re seeking.
- From May to June (late spring/early summer): Pleasant and warm, with temperatures ranging from 20°C to 26°C. The sea begins to warm, skies clear, and daylight lasts longer. Winds are moderate (10-15 knots), mostly from the northwest (Mistral wind), offering ideal conditions for smooth sailing. Fewer tourists than in summer means ports and popular spots are less crowded.
- From July to August (summer peak): Hot and sunny, with average temperatures between 26°C and 32°C. Consistent sea breezes (10-20 knots) provide excellent sailing, though the Mistral can occasionally bring stronger gusts, particularly in the northwestern regions. This is the peak tourist season, and ports can be crowded, so it’s advisable to book in advance.
- September (late summer/early autumn): Still warm but more comfortable, with temperatures between 24°C and 28°C. The sea remains warm, and the weather is generally stable. Winds are moderate and steady (10-15 knots), perfect for relaxed sailing. The Mistral wind is less frequent, making for excellent sailing conditions with fewer tourists compared to the summer months. sailing in Sardinia in September
