The location of El Masnou
The port town is located on the northern part of Barcelona Province on the Costa del Maresme coastline. El Masnou is bordered with Teià, Premià de Mar, Montgat and Alella.
The history of El Masnou
A Roman village, Cal Ros de les Cabres was one of the first settlements situated on the current site of El Masnou. Vineyards and cultivating leguminous crops always played a significant role in the town’s agriculture.
Nowadays, El Masnou is renowned for its flowers, especially carnations and the textile industry is also of main importance.
The climate of El Masnou
The town enjoys a pleasant, temperate climate, with August being the hottest and January the coldest month. If you are a beach bum, we advise you to visit between the end of June and end of September.
However, if you are interested in various touristic outdoor activities, El Masnou has a lot to offer right until the end of October.
Main attractions around El Masnou
Do you fancy exploring nature? Then visit the Montseny Natural Park close to Barcelona. Catalonia’s highly protected natural park is lined with excellent hiking trails and awaits hikers with abundant flora and diverse fauna. El Masnou cherishes architectural monuments of different designs: neoclassicist, modernist, noucentista and eclectic characteristics are all represented. We highly recommend visiting Casa de la Vila (City Hall) and the Casa del Marquès del Masnou Palace. These are just some of the town’s must-see attractions.

When in El Masnou, you will be spoilt for choice; you can sample some traditional Catalan dishes as well as some international pièces de résistance.
We particularly recommend the Tresmacarrons Vermut Restaurant, renowned for its delicious meals, cosy atmosphere and excellent service.
Beaches in El Masnou
Ocata Beach
The largest beach of this enchanting town is located to the East of the port. Ocata Beach stretches for 2500 m and is 133 m wide and for its crystal-clear waters, it has been awarded the Blue Flag.
Don’t worry, there are several restaurants around if you get hungry and you will also find other amenities including showers and sports facilities. The little ones won’t get bored either as there are special child-friendly areas devoted to them.
Moreover, there is also a lifeguard team to secure the safety of visitors.
Platja del Masnou
Only a few steps away from El Masnou’s train station lies the town’s other famous beach, Platja del Masnou.
Although smaller in size–1100 m long and 25 m wide–, Platja del Masnou, just like Ocata Beach, boasts fantastic services: showers, sun lounger rental and lifeguard service. From the various available water sports activities, we recommend trying surfing.

Port El Masnou
The Port of El Masnou offers 1, 058 berths and it can accommodate boats up to 22 m in length. The port boasts some splendid amenities including 24/7 security service, refuelling and a maintenance station. You can also find some cosy bars and restaurants with terraces nearby.
Port Vell
Barcelona is one of the most important port cities on the Adriatic Sea. Port Vell offers 148 moorings for yachts not longer than 190 metres. They have drinking water, electricity and cable TV.
Port of Sitges
The port of the town goes by the name El Port Esportiu de Sitges Aiguadolc. They have 742 berths for yachts with a maximum length of 32 metres. There are also great bars and restaurants here.
Club Nautic Cambrils
Suitable for 426 yachts, they can be 8 to 25 meters long. The area includes 8 areas that can cover a wide range of yacht maintenance and repair services. There is a bar, restaurant, Wi-Fi and 24-hour service and assistance.
Port de Blanes
The port is operated by the Banes Sailing Club. They have 309 moorings for yachts with a maximum length of 24 metres. You can find a café, a restaurant and a sailing school in the club. They combine commercial fishing activities with recreational sailing.
Marina Palamós
The marina offers 866 berths and it can accommodate boats up to 30 m in length and the maximum water depth reaches 10 m. There are fantastic facilities including maintenance station and access to drinking water, electricity and showers.
Club Nàutic Estartit
The port is located in the L’Estartit resort. They have 643 moorings for yachts as long as 32 metres. The depth of the water is 2.3 metres. It is a protected port with several great services offered, and there is also a bar and a restaurant here.
Port of Empuriabrava
They often refer to the city as “The Venice of Spain”. One of the largest ports of the world can be found here, with 5, 000 moorings for locals and visitors. 700 of these are preserved for tourists and can accept 26 metre-long yachts. The place offers modern facilities and equipment. For instance, if you are hungry, you can choose from 50 restaurants.
Port of Roses
The town’s new port boasts 485 berths, out of which 374 is reserved for vessels staying in the port permanently, whilst the rest is for passing boats. The entrance of the port is almost 70 m wide and 9 m deep, whereas the minimum water depth at other parts is 3.5 m. The port boasts modern services and splendid facilities.
