Location of Cambrils
The Spanish Costa Dorada, the ’Golden Beach’ is a holiday resort in Catalonia, south of Barcelona. Cambrils is located in the province of Tarragona. It is bordered by Mont-Roig del Camp, Montbrió del Camp, Vinyols i els Arcs, Salou, Vila-Seca and Riudoms.
History of Cambrils
The history of this holiday resort dates back to prehistoric times. In the middle ages, it was already a permanent settlement on the right bank of Alforja Torrent. One of Cambrils’ most important events took place in December 1640 when it was the site of one of the episodes of the Guerra dels Segadors. The occupying troops killed many soldiers, and most of the city walls were destroyed. This sad event is commemorated every year in Plaça del Setge, at the ruins of the walls.
Weather in Cambrils
The Golden Beach is characterised by a moderate Mediterranean climate. The hottest months are July and August, and the coldest is January. The average temperature in summer is between 20-26°C, in winter 7-10°C. Most of the rain falls in spring and autumn. For sea lovers, we recommend visiting in August. The temperature of the sea is 25°C.
