The location of Sitges
You can find this town in Barcelona, Spain. It is located on the shores of the Adriatic Sea, in Costa Dorada. Sitges shares borders with Sitges Begues, Gavà, Castelldefels, Sant Pere de Ribes and Olivell.
The history of Sitges
Sitges was a fishing village until the end of the 19th century. The first written documents date back to the 1st century. The castle, built on demand of the Archdiocese of Barcelona later became the property of Bernat de Fenollar. He was the hand of John II who became the most influential person in the medieval history of Sitges. Interestingly, the current town hall was built on the exact spot where the castle used to stand. Sitges earned its reputation when Santiago Rusiñol moved in in the 1960s and established the opposition of the Franco regime. That is when the town got the “Mini Ibiza” name as well. Beside wine production, the main income of the town was fishing until the 1960s. Then the government decided to focus on the development of tourism.
The climate of Sitges
Thanks to the surrounding mountains, the town has a very pleasant climate. This means warm summers and mild winters with a low amount of precipitation. From June to September, the average temperature is between 25 and 28 °C. If you prefer to avoid the hot period, you can also visit in the spring and autumn months. Winters are also pleasant and moderate.

Platja de Sant Sebastià
It is a smaller beach with a length of 205 metres and a width of 20 metres, but it is very popular among the locals and the tourists. We recommend it to families with children because the water is calm. It might get very crowded here during the main season, especially in August.
