Location
Dalmatia is Croatia’s most popular region. Pirovac is located in the middle of this, only a little more than 20 km from Sibenik. History of Pirovac
The region has been inhabited since the Roman age. Due to its excellent location, Pirovac has always been very popular for the summer vacations of rich families. According to legends, it was called the “wicked village” a while ago, because locals poured oil on the invading Turks from the town wall. However, when you walk in the town, you wouldn’t believe this legend, as it has such a positive atmosphere.
Beach options on Pirovac
As Pirovac is located in a hidden bay, it has a beautiful and very popular beach. The waves are not too high and the water gets on average four degrees warmer than in other parts of the Adriatic Sea. The beaches are usually covered by small pebbles.
Lolic beach:
It is the most popular beach in the town with a blue flag distinction, which means that the water quality is excellent. If you prefer active holidays, you’ll find everything here for exciting and pleasant entertainment.
Makirina beach:
Makirina bay is one of the most beautiful bays in Pirovac. Its beach is most famous among swimmers for its healing mud. The mud together with the special climate character of the place (high temperature and humidity) has an especially beneficial effect on health, mostly for rheumatic and locomotor diseases.
Miran beach:
The favourite of families in Pirovac. Water level will gradually get deeper and it is surrounded by Mediterranean plants. Also, lovers of water sports find good opportunities here, you can rent several kinds of equipment here.

Main attractions in Pirovac
Pirovac is a place of calmness and leisure, but don’t think that you’re in a boring town. Pirovac has a rich history and hiking programs and local gastronomy is also famous. The typical local cherry type Maraska is used to make both liqueurs and cocktails.
Town wall:
The town wall that dates back to the 16th century served town defence from four sides. Today you can only see the ruins of the northern side that makes you remember the town’s history.
Vrána lake:
Visit Croatia’s largest natural lake, which is only a little further than 20 km from Pirovac. The lake is 14 km long and hosts almost 250 species of birds.
Saint Stephen Island:
Discover the ruins of a Roman age settlement on Saint Stephen Island in front of the town. Visit the picturesque island of Sustipanac, where you can also admire a partly preserved monastery from the Middle Ages.
