This cosy little town and holiday resort can be found in the region of Catalonia, in Costa Brava. It is located in the northeastern part of Spain, between the hills Roca Maura and Torre Moratxa.
History of L’Estartit
In the 1960s, large numbers of people started to settle in the town during the summer months, due to the tourism in Costa Brava. In the beginning, they built houses and mansions on the hills surrounding the port. Later they established hotels, apartment buildings and campsites along the beach and in the floodplains of the Gola del Ter. The touristic activity has led to the appearance of immigrant people, primarily from other regions in Spain, especially from Andalusia. Today, the underwater beauties of Medes Islands, the large and well-equipped port and the golf courts nearby all make the place really attractive. Thanks to them, divers, sailors and golf players return here year by year.
